I built the Mk 1 satellite tracker from the wonderful people at:
SARC Net.
It works wonderfully! The antenna is
the 2 meter portion of the arrow
antenna.
You don't have to use a tracking antenna system.
Sometimes I use a V-Dipole as described by Adam, 9A4QV. See
his interesting article on circular polarization
here.
I have the dipole that came with my SDR receiver, with a 3D printed spacing bracket:
The receiver is an RTL-SDR v3. It is driven by SDR Sharp version
1.0.0.1700. Any version that works for you is fine. On my computer,
the
newer ones seem to crash a lot.
I use an LNA preamp and SAW filter from Nooelec at Amazon,
product ID B07TWPR871
on both antennas. It is not strictly necessary, but I am striving
for near perfect reception.
The program that interprets the SDR audio into an image can be found
here.
Use WXtoImg version 2.11.2 (last beta version).
